$100M Renovation of Miami Beach Convention Center?

For several years, Miami residents have heard discussions about renovating and upgrading the Miami Beach Convention Center. The last time major upgrades were done on the convertion center was in 1989.

The steering committee of the convention center met on Friday, January 15 to discuss the plans to improve the building that is now over 50 years old.

According to the committee members, the convention center is important for businesses in and around Miami Beach and Dade County. And, in order to remain competitive with other centers in surrounding areas, it must be renovated and improved.

The overhaul is expected to cost $100M to complete.

Proponents of the overhaul contend…

“Failure to overhaul the Miami Beach Convention Center to make it competitive will result in a significant economic hit to Miami-Dade County.”
