Firm
Overview
At Schecter Law, it is our primary goal to achieve excellent outcomes
for our clients and to earn our clients’ confidence and respect,
both in the short and long term so as to foster long term relationships.
We do take an entrepreneurial approach to accepting engagements
and to setting attorneys fees.
Some cases are handled based strictly on an hourly rate. The rate is
dependent on the complexity of the case, the experience of the attorney
performing the services, the nature of the matter, etc. The time spent
on a case handled on this basis is itemized to the client and the client
pays for the time expended by the attorney.
Some cases, if requested by the client, may be performed on a fixed fee.
Some cases, such as those involving complex commercial litigation, may
be handled on a contingency fee basis, which means the firm will receive
a percentage of the amount actually recovered. The percentage will vary
depending on the facts of a particular case.
Some cases will be handled in a hybrid manner. A hybrid manner means
that a portion of the fee would be predicated on a contingent fee basis
while the remainder of the fee will be based on a reduced hourly rate.
Out of pocket expenses such as filing fees, deposition costs, expert
fees, etc. may be advanced by the attorney when appropriate, but all expenses
are the ultimate responsibility of the client. The terms are spelled out
in the attorney-client contract (the engagement letter) that both Schecter
Law and the client will sign.
We at Schecter Law are proud that we have been recognized with the highest
AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell. What makes this highest rating even more
significant is that it is voted upon by our peers.
